Argentina 2-1 Côte d'Ivoire

Argentina managed a 2-1 win but underperformed at times during the match. Hernan Crespo and Javier Saviola scored for Argentina while Didier Drogba scored for Côte d'Ivoire.

Overall, it was a good start to the World Cup for Argentina, they took a 2-0 lead over a tricky opposition and managed to keep the game under control, in spite of not playing particularly well. In fact, Côte d'Ivoire piled on the pressure in the game's closing stages.

One thing to note for Argentina is that Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevez were not called up in the match, it means that they still got a strong bench and have not unleashed their full potential yet.
