Ferguson targets Bayern star Lahm

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is chasing the signature of German international defender Philipp Lahm, according to reports here on Sunday.

Sunday's edition of German tabloid Bild said the Red Devils boss wants to reinforce his defence with the 24-year-old German who has won 37 caps for his country and is under contract at Bayern until June 2009.

Lahm, one of the stars of the German national side, is reported to be worth 15 million euros (21.5 million US dollars) and United are also said to be interested in Moscow Lokomotiv's Serbian defender Bransilav Ivanovic.
