Paraguay 2-0 Trinidad and Tobago

Paraguay's 2-0 victory ended Trinidad & Tobago's hopes of reaching the last 16 on Tuesday.

It was disappointing for Trinidad, who had a mathematical chance of securing second spot in Group B with a win. They looked more threatening especially from set pieces but it was just not their day. To think that Dwight Yorke even called Beckam, Rooney and Gary Neville in the hope that England will defeat Sweden so that his team can qualify. Not to mention that England fail to do that, but more importantly, Trinidad let themselves down by not winning this game.

Nevertheless, for World Cup debutants, Trinidad and Tobago will have gained a lot of experience and exposure from this tournament. The fact that they are still in it until the last match shows that it has not been a total failure for them. Better luck next time but they will have to find a successor for Dwight Yorke soon if they want to make it back in four years time.

'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I'm very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'
