Italy 2-0 win over Ghana

The Italians showed that they can play some entertaining football in this match. Goals from Andrea Pirlo and Vincenzo Iaquinta gave Italy a 2-0 (40th, 83rd minute) victory over Ghana.

Ghana also gave their best and turned in a good performance in the first half despite a nervous start. They had two clear chances by Asamoah Gyan and Emmanuel Pappoe which were wasted but nevertheless gave the Italians a fright.

In the second half, Italy was rarely threatened, save for a penalty appeal in the 79th minute which was rejected.

Overall, a solid performance by the Italians and given their pedigree, they should advance from the group stages with little effort.

'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I'm very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'
