Manchester United Tops Group F

Manchester United came away with a lucky 1-0 win against Roma, Wayne Rooney scored the goal. That puts the Red Devils on top of Group F table with 6 points ahead of Roma with 3 points.

Actually, it is disappointing for Roma to walk away empty-handed as they put up a credible fight and it . Nevertheless, this was an "improvement" over last season's result for Roma where they were thrashed 7-1 in a quarter final tie.

With their next two games against Kiev, United stands a good chance of qualifying for the knockout stages. Ten points is the critical barrier and they should be able to squeeze some points out of the minnow.

Cristiano Ronaldo ended the match early with a head wound but there are no major worries and the match was played in good spirit. What is of greater concern now is the lack of scoring.

With this win, United has now racked up their sixth single-goal victory in eight matches. "It's a disease," said Ferguson. "I'm trying to get a vaccine for it."

Ferguson still has some breathing space while his strikers get adventurous and score more goals since his nearest competitors, Chelsea and Liverpool, have been out of sorts recently.

'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I'm very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'
