Van Persie Helps Gunners To 1-0 Win

These days, a win will suffice for Arsene Wenger as he does not seem too keen to play the beautiful game after Thierry Henry has departed.

The Gunners grind out a 1-0 victory over Steaua Bucharest in a Group H Champions League encounter. They have now gone unbeaten in 12 matches and this result marks their ninth consecutive win. This is also the first time an English team has won on Romanian soil, so England has something to thank the Gunners for.

Overall, Arsenal kept a tight pace in this "ugly" match and controlled possession but Steaua remained a tough nut to crack. Their patient play paid off though when Robin van Persie reached to a left cross from Adebayor and aimed a high shot past Steaua's goalkeeper, Zapata.

The young bucks in Arsenal are showing the desire to be champions and that is a good sign. So far, things are going smoothly for them. But the true mark of a champion is not only to win even if you play badly but also to bounce back from a a crisis. If the Gunners lose momentum and lose a few games in a row, will they be able to motivate themselves and get back on track fast enough?

Also, do they also have enough experience and depth to tide over the hectic Christmas period? They seem to be challenging for titles on all fronts but that strategy could backfire and become a stumbling block as the title race heats up. With such a young team, maybe it will be better to focus instead of spreading their resources too thin.

Anyway, it is still early days.. Meanwhile, let's just enjoy Arsenal's dominance which has been missing for a while.
